Outbreak of E. coli O157 linked to imported salad, two killed and over 150 people affected

A UK E.coli O157 outbreak has killed two, and sickened over 150 people. Public Health England (PHE) said it had identified that several ill people ate mixed salad including rocket leaves prior to becoming unwell, and whole genome sequencing has indicated that the strain involved is likely to be an imported one, possibly from the Mediterranean area. However, the source is not confirmed and remains under investigation with other food items not being ruled out. 

New Low Level PAH's method in water

As of 14th September 2015 a revised set of Environmental Quality Standards (EQSs) for Priority Substances (PS) came into force in England and Wales. Of the more challenging EQSs, the most commonly monitored for are PAH’s. ALcontrol Laboratories have introduced a new Low Level PAH in water method which is compliant for PAH’s in water for evaluation of EQS compliance.
