Quality and Accreditation
The Oil and Fuel Analysis Laboratory is accredited to ISO 17025:2005 for the majority of the routine condition monitoring and fuel testing. ISO 17025 is recognised as the most appropriate Quality Management Standard for Laboratories. The management system requirements of this follow the same principles as ISO 9001. In addition to the Management System requirements, ISO 17025 has a number of technical requirements covering training, method selection and validation, QA and reporting. All test methods have internal QA procedures and we subscribe to a number of Inter-Laboratory Proficiency Testing Schemes run by ASTM and the Institute for Interlaboratory Studies.
Our schedule of accreditation currently includes the following tests: Wear Metals and Additives, Kinematic Viscosity, Acid Number (IP139 and IP177), Base Number, Cleanliness Code (ISO), Water Content (Karl Fischer), Flash Point (Pensky Martens Closed Cup), Dielectric Breakdown, Cloud Point, Pour Point, Heat Content, Density, Carbon Residue (Micro Method), Distillation Characteristics.
As the schedule is liable to change, the current schedule can be found at http://www.ukas.org/testing/labsearch.asp. Search for Laboratory number 2744.
The Oil and Fuel Analysis Laboratory is located a couple of hundred meters from the boundary of the Snowdonia National Park, so we are very aware of the potential impact of our operation on the environment. Alcontrol UK operates an Environmental Management System registered under ISO 14001, and we are therefore subject to regular third party audit.
