Water - Transporting Your Samples

Transporting your Samples

SYNLAB operates a temperature controlled fleet of vehicles to collect your samples from your door. We cover a large part of the country, when there is an area where we cannot collect we have a partnership agreements with a 3rd party courier.

Samples can be left at our safe drop off facilities, for one of our drivers to collect. Please contact us for more information on the opening hours and estimated collection times at each of our sites.

SYNLAB have multiple drop-off facilities around the UK. These can be found in Dundee*, Edinburgh*, Newcastle, Durham*, Manchester, Burnley, Liverpool, Preston, Warrington, Leeds*, Shrewsbury (SYNLAB Laboratory), Birmingham Great Barr, Birmingham Yardley, Stafford, Bristol, Victoria (Near Roche, Cornwall), Central London (Near Kings Cross), Bow (Near Olympic Park), Ilford, Crayford (Kent), Farnborough, New Cross*, Hayes, Reading, Maidstone* and Eastleigh.

Ideally, we would ask that you book your couriers the day before the collection event (booking on Monday for a Tuesday collection). We appreciate that from time to time this may not be possible, in these instances we ask that as much notice as possible is given and request your patience as we work to support your request.

*Please note that you will need to contact our Belshill laboratory to inform them of any collections required from Edinburgh and Dundee. Any collections from Leeds need to be arranged with our Rotherham Laboratory before 1pm the same day, and SYNLAB Dunstable require 24 hours notice for collections from Maidstone and New Cross.

All Sample Collection Co-ordinators report in to the logistics team and also have strong links with their local laboratory.  Our Sample Collection Co-ordinators don’t just drive our vehicles, they offer excellent service to the customer in conjunction with our internal service teams.

We have over 50 SYNLAB fleet vehicles operating out of our sites in Newton Abbot, Dunstable, Shrewsbury, Rotherham, Hawarden, Bellshill and Aberdeen. These drivers are used to carrying out collections from customers and our drop-off sites and partake in inter-lab courier routes. Trackers are fitted in all vehicles to enable us to offer accurate information to our customers.

SYNLAB is able to offer a service to facilitate collection of samples at weekends. Samples may be dropped off at our laboratories with prior agreement with the team who will ensure that the samples are stored appropriately prior to transportation. Please note that all of the SYNLAB drop-off facilities operate strictly Monday to Friday

We can also provide an external national courier network to collect samples across the length and breadth of the United Kingdom but our internal logistics team ensure the use of this service is kept to a minimum. The sample collections will be via the use of our internal fleet where possible.
